NINT(National
Institute for Nanotechnology) - Information and Communications
Technology (ICT) Sector Workshop - 12th February 2003
Full report on the February 12th meeting. The objective of
the meeting was to engage business interests in the ICT sector,
to obtain their views on what aspects of nanotechnology would
be most beneficial to them, and to inform them of research
being done in nanotechnology in the universities in Alberta,
and by other institutes of the NRC.

many different areas as does technology itself. This paper
reviews all of the aspects of Technology Management from high
level strategy to the nuts and bolts of project management.

specifically in the R&D context. The paper covers topics
such as Key Questions for R&D Management, the Management

from the Summit
This report was prepared as a summary of discussions on the
interactive multimedia industry held at the Banff Centre,
Alberta, Canada, during the summer of 1997. It examines the
structure of the possible industry sector and some of the
key issues if faced then and still faces, particularly in
the area of technology development.

This report reviewed the opportunities that the emerging Internet
offered software companies in 1997. There have been considerable
changes in the industry since that time but the report still
provides a useful view of industry structure.

An
Investigation of R&D Program Elements
This paper describes some research undertaken on the impact
of different national R&D programs in a group of APEC
countries and the relationship they have to the growth in
GDP for those countries. The analysis is based on the period
1998 - 2001. The results suggest which types of support by
governments for R&D appear to have the most beneficial
impacts on economic growth. The paper is preliminary and the
study is being extended to enhance and extend the model.
National
R&D Program Planning and Evaluation
This was presented to the 2002 APEC R&D Training Program:
it looks at the policy options which exist for governments
in deciding how they will support R&D with the eventual
goal of stimulating economic performance. It also provides
some comparative data for programs in different countries
and assesses the net impact of these.
In
